Phillip SeLegue serves as the Staff Chief of CAL FIRE’s Intelligence (Intel) Program, where he oversees statewide fire intelligence operations, including Predictive Services, the Wildfire Forecast and Threat Intelligence Integration Center (WFTIIC), the Remote Sensing Program, and fire-related technology partnerships. Chief SeLegue has been instrumental in driving CAL FIRE’s data-informed decision-making, including development and implementation of key systems like Technosylva suite of software, Report On Conditions application, and statewide wildfire camera integration through the ALERTCALIFORNIA network.
He has over 26 years of service for CAL FIRE and as a subject matter expert, he has collaborated with federal agencies, academia, and private industry to enhance wildfire situational awareness, modeling, and response.
Chief SeLegue represents CAL FIRE on several national committees and working groups, including FIRE-RES and the National Predictive Services Oversite Group, and has advised the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). His leadership ensures CAL FIRE remains at the forefront of wildfire intelligence, integrating cutting-edge technology, fostering interagency partnerships, and supporting policy development to better protect California’s communities and natural resources.
