Jim Lake is the Consolidated Emergency Communications Center director for Charleston County, SC. Lake serves as the executive committee chairman for the South Carolina Coastal Area Cooperative and has achieved the designation of Emergency Number Professional from the National Emergency Number Association (NENA). He has developed several courses on leadership and management taught at the national level. Lake is a member of the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch College of Fellows and has worked as a contract instructor for Priority Dispatch and NENA. By governor appointment, Lake served as the chairman of the South Carolina State 9-1-1 Advisory Committee from June 2014 to June 2019. His work experience includes 9-1-1 consulting, 9-1-1 center management, and management of statewide training and public education programs. Prior to entering into the 9-1-1 profession, Lake served as a police officer and volunteer firefighter/EMT.
